What to know
Excellent corrosion resistance. Softer and more “gummy” to machine than 6082, which costs time on finishing.
Design tips
Anodizing adds 5–25 µm (Type II) and changes hole sizes slightly; mask precision bores or state that dimensions apply after coating.
Cheaper alternative
Aluminium 6082-T6: Unless you need 5083’s weldability in seawater or cast-plate flatness, 6082 machines cleaner and faster.
Draw your own part
Drop a STEP file into DrawMyPart. It finds every body, asks you to confirm threads, fits and tolerances, and draws a sheet your manufacturer can build from.
