DrawMyPart

Drop a STEP file. Get a drawing your machinist can build from.

DrawMyPart turns a STEP file into a manufacturing drawing: one sheet per body, with projected views or a section for turned parts, dimensions from a datum edge, hole callouts, hole table, notes and your title block. You confirm threads, fits and tolerances, because the model cannot carry them, and send the drawing with your STEP file straight to a manufacturer for a quote.

A3 manufacturing drawing of a mounting plate generated by DrawMyPart: three views with hidden lines, position dimensions, hole callouts, isometric view, hole table, notes and title block
Sheet 1 of 3 from the sample file, generated in the browser: 8 holes in the table and 16 dimensioned levels. Open the sample in the tool.

From model to shop-ready drawing in three steps

  1. Drop the STEP file

STEP, IGES, BREP or a mesh (STL, OBJ, 3MF). It is read in your browser with OpenCASCADE and never uploaded. Every solid body is listed; identical ones are merged with a quantity. Each body gets its own sheet, oriented the way a draughtsman would draw it.

  2. Confirm the details

Threads, fits, counterbores, material, finish, tolerance class and notes. The drawing stays locked until every hole and diameter is confirmed, so nothing reaches the shop unchecked.

  3. Export the sheets

PDF (one file, all sheets), DXF and SVG, plus a hole table CSV. On your own title block if you want: upload your company's sheet as SVG.

Why I built DrawMyPart

I’m a mechanical engineer and designer, working on closing the gap between design and manufacturing. Every part I sent to a supplier meant inserting the model into a drawing and adding every line by hand, because the automatic drawings in CAD were never good enough to send as they were.

So I built DrawMyPart: a tool that helps anyone take a prototype to real manufacturing. Drop your STEP file, confirm the few things a model cannot tell (threads, fits, tolerances, material), and you get a drawing you can send straight to a manufacturer, together with your STEP file, to ask for a quote.

What is on the sheet

Everything a manufacturer needs to quote and make the part without a phone call, laid out the way they expect it.

Read what a manufacturing drawing needs

  • Three viewsFirst or third angle, with hidden lines removed and shown dashed.
  • Overall and position dimensionsEvery pocket wall, step, floor and slope measured from one datum corner, with real dimension lines.
  • Hole callouts and tableThread, fit, counterbore, depth and X/Y position of every hole.
  • Outside diametersTurned features with their tolerance or fit.
  • NotesTolerance class, roughness, edges, corner radii, material, finish and the rule that the model governs geometry.
  • Title blockPart, number, revision, mass, scale, quantity, sheet n of N, projection symbol. Yours or ours.

Your design stays on your computer

The STEP file is processed in your browser. Nothing about your geometry is sent to a server, which keeps confidential designs confidential. Only your account and payment status are stored.

Assemblies welcome

Drop an assembly STEP and get a sheet per part. Bodies that occur more than once are drawn once with the quantity in the title block. Untick the purchased parts you do not need drawn.
